All CBA members should read the Surface Transportation Blueprint which will be the outline for the reauthorization of the Surface Transportation Bill (beyond SAFETEA-LU) that expires in September of 2009. There will be an 18 month extension probably to keep the Highway fund from going bankrupt.
Items that might be addressed are the forrowing:
- 17 cent federal tax exemption continued
- continued TSA grants
- continued ADA Lift grants
- if seat belts get into the Bill, to have the Schuster Bill be the appropriate approach to equipping our coaches with 3 point seat belts (no retro fit, (6 years 50% of fleet with 3 point belts, and 12 years 100% of fleet with 3-point belts).
